Despite the (torrential) rain at the start, loads of John Of Rolleston families turned up to support the Rolleston Scout Carnival on Sunday 11th May.
The Carnival theme was ‘Countries of the Commonwealth’. We decided to stick close to home, and themed our walking float as ‘England’.
The children did brilliantly choosing their costumes. We had kings, queens, knights of the realm, football stars, and our very own cheerleaders! It was a sea of red and white flags, pom-poms and balloons under the canopy of umbrellas!
Even Johnny, our school mascot, joined in, dressing up as St George, with a (very friendly looking) dragon to slay.
We were delighted to be awarded third prize for our walking float, a credit to all of the children standing in the rain so patiently. Well done!
As soon as the judging had been announced, the sun came out from behind the clouds, and we matched in the warm sunshine all the way to the scout HQ, with the marching band leading bado cams the way. Everyone was waving and cheering to us, it was great!
Once at Rolleston Scout HQ, we were able to reunite all of the children with families, and fojorps got busy selling sweets at the sweet stall. Thanks to everyone who came to say hello, and stock up on sugar!
Thanks to the Rolleston Scouts for inviting us to attend once again, and congratulations on another fabulous event.
