Whilst every parent, grandparent and carer of a pupil at John of Rolleston Primary School is automatically a member of FOJORPS, we have an elected Committee, who attend monthly meetings, organise events and vote to decide where and when funds should be allocated for the school.
The Committee is made up of a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. We then have Teacher representatives from both Junior and Infant sites, and other Committee volunteers. These are all elected at our Annual General Meeting, held in September.
Mr Bateman, our Headmaster usually attends meetings to give his Headteacher’s Report, update us on any progress the school and its children has enjoyed through new funding, and advise on any areas he might like to see benefitting from extra monies.
Any requests for funds must be submitted to the Committee by an application form, which states how much money is needed, how it will be spent, and what the benefits will be. A vote is taken and the request may be approved, denied, or pending for further research.
Due to the nature of a child’s school career, each year, we naturally lose some Committee members as parents and carers with children moving up to Secondary School leave. This is always sad as we say farewell to great friends and team members. However, we are always fortunate to welcome in new Committee and volunteers. This is a great opportunity for fresh ideas, new thinking, and strong impetus to keep raising funds for every child starting at John Of Rolleston.
